Kenzi Travel and Tours · Atlantic coast to Simon's Town

Cape Point & Boulders in a full day

A 10-hour shared loop of the peninsula in an air-conditioned people carrier: Camps Bay, Hout Bay harbour, Chapman's Peak, both capes, an hour with the penguins and lunch in Simon's Town. Pick it for the stops: it is the only shared tour here that fits in Hout Bay and a proper Simon's Town break.

Cape Point & Boulders Beach Full Day

About this experience

Kenzi Travel and Tours collects you from your hotel in one of 13 areas, from the City Centre and V&A Waterfront out to Sea Point, Camps Bay and Hout Bay. The day runs down the Atlantic side first: Maiden's Cove and Camps Bay views, then Hout Bay harbour and its seals, then the photo stops on Chapman's Peak. In the Table Mountain National Park you see the low, rocky Cape of Good Hope and the lighthouse at Cape Point, before the van crosses to False Bay for about an hour at Boulders, lunch and a walk in Simon's Town, and the shark-spotter stop at Muizenberg.

Now the money. The $44 is the tour. The listing's Includes section names the park and Boulders entries, rand prices and all, but its own "Know before you go" note says entrance fees and extras are paid on site, by cash or card. Read it as paid on the day. From 1 November 2026 an international adult pays R592 at the park gate and R282 at Boulders (SANParks 2026/27 fee card), so R874, about $54. Until 31 October it was R515 and R245. A guest from Spain put it bluntly: you pay more for the gates than for the excursion.

Budget about $100 per adult before lunch, tips and the optional extras: the Flying Dutchman funicular (R115 return at the 2025-26 rate valid to 31 October 2026; the new rate wasn't out when we checked) and the 45-minute Seal Island boat in Hout Bay, which the listing prices at R140. That is still the cheapest way to see this much of the peninsula in one go. The same operator runs the half-day version and the Table Mountain combo, so the vans, guides and style are much the same across all three.

  • Hout Bay harbour and its Cape fur seals, with an optional boat to Seal Island
  • Photo stops on Chapman's Peak Drive, tolls already paid
  • Both headlands: the Cape of Good Hope and the Cape Point lighthouse
  • About an hour with the African penguins at Boulders
  • Lunch and a walk in Simon's Town, then the Muizenberg shark spotters
  • Pickup from 13 areas, Woodstock to Bakoven

What guests say

★★★★★

The park entrance fees are expensive. You pay more than for the excursion itself, but everything went very well.

Tips before you book

  • Carry a bank card for the gates: SANParks made them card-only in 2023, and it's R874 per international adult from 1 November 2026.
  • Take the funicular up and walk down. The paved path is short, but the climb is steep in the wind.
  • The Seal Island boat is optional. The seals in the harbour are free and often enough.
  • Bring a windproof layer. Cape Point is exposed even on a warm day.
  • Keep food out of sight at the capes. Baboons know what a bag means, and feeding them is not allowed.

Frequently asked questions

Are the Cape Point entrance fees included in the $44?

No. The listing names them under Includes, but it also says entrance fees are paid on site by cash or card. From 1 November 2026 an international adult pays R592 at the park gate and R282 at Boulders, about $54 in total.

How much should I budget for the full day?

About $100 per adult: the $44 tour plus roughly $54 in gate fees. Add lunch in Simon's Town, tips, and the funicular or Seal Island boat if you want them.

Is the funicular open?

Yes. The Flying Dutchman reopened on 1 October 2026 after a maintenance closure. It's not in the tour price: R115 return was the adult rate to 31 October 2026, and prices rise each November.

How long do you get with the penguins?

About an hour at Boulders, which is longer than the 25 minutes on the half-day tour. Lunch in Simon's Town comes right after.
