New SANParks fees from 1 November 2026

The two gates on a Cape Point day trip get dearer on 1 November 2026. Here is every category, old and new, and what it does to the real price of a $40 tour.

SANParks resets its daily conservation fees every year on 1 November. The 2026/27 card is out, and foreign visitors carry most of the rise: the Cape Point gate goes from R515 to R592 per adult, and the Boulders penguin colony from R245 to R282. Both are up about 15%.

It matters more than it sounds, because almost no shared tour includes these gates. Two gate tickets now come to about $54 per foreign adult, which is more than the tour itself on most listings. This post sets out the numbers from the official SANParks 2026/27 fee card so you can budget before you book.

The quick answer

From 1 November 2026 to 31 October 2027 a foreign adult pays R592 at the Cape Point (Cape of Good Hope) gate and R282 at Boulders, together R874 or about $54. South Africans pay R115 and R57, SADC nationals R242 and R118. Children 2-11 pay roughly half. The gates take cards only, and shared tours leave these fees to you, apart from the e-bike tour.

What are the new Cape Point entrance fees from 1 November 2026?

International adults pay R592 (was R515) and children R288 (was R250). South African adults pay R115 and SADC adults R242.

The fee is charged at the Cape of Good Hope gate, the single entrance to the reserve that holds both Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope. One ticket covers the whole section for the day. SANParks lists it as "Table Mountain NP: Cape of Good Hope" on the new card and as "Cape Point" on the Table Mountain rates page; it is the same gate.

The rise is steep for visitors from abroad and gentle for locals. South Africans see R5 more on an adult ticket. Adults are 12 and older, children 2 to 11, and the new rates hold until 31 October 2027.

How much is Boulders Beach penguin colony from November 2026?

Foreign adults pay R282 (was R245), children R138. South African adults pay R57 and SADC adults R118.

Boulders is a separate SANParks site in Simon's Town with its own gate. Your Cape Point ticket does not get you in, and most tours stop at both. The new card lists the colony under "Table Mountain NP: Boulders".

What does a Cape Point day trip cost now, gates included?

Count about $54 per foreign adult on top of any shared tour. A $40 half-day trip becomes roughly $94, a $44 full day roughly $98.

We work at R16.22 to the dollar (the FRED monthly average for September 2026). R592 plus R282 is R874, or about $54. Before 1 November the pair cost R760, about $47, so each foreign adult pays roughly $7 more for the same day.

A family of two adults and two children aged 2-11 now pays R2,600 at the two gates, up from R2,260. Add the funicular if you want it (R115 return per adult at the 2025-26 rate, valid to 31 October 2026; the new rate was not yet published) and lunch.

The e-bike tour is the outlier: its listing puts the Cape Point entrance in the price, with Boulders an optional extra. Our tour cost guide goes through every listing line by line.

Do you pay the Cape Point fee on the day, and can you pay cash?

Yes, you pay at the gate on the day. No cash: SANParks says both the Cape Point and Boulders gates take debit and credit cards only.

The SANParks Table Mountain page is blunt: the gates are cash-free and accept card payments only, with one payment per vehicle at Cape Point. On a tour you pay with your own card at each gate. Some tour listings still say "cash or card". Bring a card that works abroad and tell your bank you are travelling.

Watch the listing wording. Several Cape Point tours print the park fees under "Includes" and then say elsewhere that they are paid on site. Take the "paid on site" line as the true one. The private tour's includes list still quotes the old 2024-25 figures, two price cards out of date.

Is a WILD Card worth it for Cape Point?

Rarely, for a single day trip. The international All Parks card cost R4,680 for one person in 2025-26, more than five Cape Point and Boulders days.

A WILD Card waives the daily conservation fee at SANParks parks for a year. Foreigners without South African residency can only buy the International All Parks cluster: R4,680 individual, R7,310 couple, R8,745 family. Those are the 2025-26 prices, valid to 31 October 2026; ATTA reported on 8 October 2026 that the 2026/27 WILD rates were not yet published.

The maths: one Cape Point and Boulders day saves R874 at the new rates. The card pays for itself if you are also spending several days in Kruger (R692 a day from 1 November) or Addo. Show the paper or electronic membership letter with ID at the gate; SANParks says plastic cards are no longer accepted.

Which other national parks raised their fees?

Kruger goes to R692 per foreign adult per day (from R602) and Addo to R565 (from R492). The big parks rose by around 15% for international visitors.

The figures below come from the official 2026/27 card, with the old Kruger and Addo rates from ATTA's report. Agulhas is on the list for a reason: it is the true southern tip of Africa and the official Atlantic-Indian boundary, about 150 km from Cape Point. Our post on whether the oceans meet at Cape Point explains why.
